Perennials... |
Perennials continue to be an area of growing interest for home gardeners, and we offer one of the best selections in the area. Our perennials are available from early April through autumn, and we'll have hundreds of varieties in stock during that time period. Every year new plants become available, and this year we will offer some exciting new perennial varieties. To complement last year’s new Echinaceas, “Sunrise” and “Sunset”, we’ll have “Harvest Moon”, a deep golden yellow, “Sundown”, a vibrant orange, and “Twilight”, a vibrant coral pink. Coreopsis “Heavens Gate”, the first all pink variety that is truly hardy, and “Tequila Sunrise”, with daisy like flowers and variegated foliage, will also be in available. Gaillardia “Arizona Sun”, with red flowers tipped in yellow, has impressive bloom power, with flowers produced through most of the summer. The Heucheras have become a very popular, and this year we’ll have an expanded selection, including:“Chocolate Ruffles”, with incredibly frilled chocolate and burgundy leaves, “Hollywood”, with dark leaves and white venation, “Dolce Peach Melba”, with peachy-orange foliage, “Obsidian”, with glossy black foliage that shines like a gem, “Velvet Night”, with deep plum leaves and purple overlays, and “Starry Night”, another dark ruffled form but with lovely pale pink flowers. We will also have an expanded selection of Daylilies, including several new ‘Twice as Nice” varieties: “All Fired Up”, with large peachy-orange blossoms and a reddish eye, “Borderland”, cream colored flowers with purple edging and a matching eye, and “Paper Butterfly”, peachy-pink blossoms with a star-burst blue-violet eye. New Clematis from the Raymond Erison collection, new varieties of Foxglove from “Plants that Work”, and the 2006 Perennial Plant of the Year, Dianthus “Fire Witch”, along with hundreds of tried and true garden standards will complete our selection. Some categories of plants that have special interest include Succulents, Clematis, Hardy Ferns, Daylilies, Ornamental Grasses, and Hardy Bamboos. We will have more information about these groups of plants soon. Also popular are the specialty groundcovers, which include many low growing perennials that can tolerate some foot traffic. |
